I was born in Kimberley in 1953. My family moved away when I was about 12 and
I attended high school in Saskatoon. I
went to the University of Saskatchewan for one year and then spent a couple of
years travelling and living overseas. I met Ruth, a Peace Corps volunteer,
while working in Colombia and we returned to Canada to get married.
In Calgary I completed a four-year apprenticeship in
cabinetmaking and received my journeyman's ticket. Ruth and
I came back to Kimberley in 1982 to raise a family and I got a
job in the School District maintenance department. I worked for the
School District till I retired at age 55 in 2008. Ruth and I
have two grown children, Christopher, who lives here in Kimberley and
Nicholas, who lives in Edmonton. We have two grandchildren in Kimberley and one
in Edmonton.
I am a board member of the Kimberley and District
Community Foundation, the Healthy Kimberley Society and the Kimberley Nature
Park Society.
